Buck, a pet St. Bernard-Scotch Shepherd, is stalen from his Californian abade and having suffered at the hands of his successive masters he is finally sold as a sled dog and dispatched to Yukon Territory in Canada. Being a fine dag Buck quickly learns the ways of the wild and is ready to lead a life he had never dreamt of.
